JaMarcus Russell Named Raiders’ Week 1 Starting QB

JaMarcus Russell Will Start At QBAlas, journeyman and bay area native Jeff Garcia will start the season on the bench. While Garcia came to Oakland looking to challenge the Raiders 2007 1st overall pick JaMarcus Russell for the Raiders starting QB job, a calf strain has limited much of what Garcia could do on the field during this pre-season.

To quell any kind of QB controversy, head coach Tom Cable announced this Sunday that JaMarcus Russell will start week 1 against the San Diego Chargers. “At this point, he’s the quarterback of the Oakland Raiders,” Cable told reporters on Sunday.

i am a true black and silver fan since 1964 and for the life of me why you still have jamarcus russell still at quarterback when there is somebody backing him up. he surely can’t be any worse than russell. week in and week out russell just can’t seem to get the play and what is it that he’s not learning. he needs to be on the bench and learn how to be professional quarterback in this league. i believe he was thrust in too early and never got the grasp of being a professional quaarerback. let his backup play he can’t do any worse. it’s putting a lot of pressure on the defense and at a point its going hurt the chemistry of the team.russell is nothing but a guard playing quarterback. give someone else a chance and lets see what happens.

i agree completely with taylor, russel is way over due for a bench warming, can’t anyone see that the guy doesn’t have what it takes to be a raider q.b. !! so he had a great last year in college , that doesn’t make him a great pro ! his been proving this week for week , time for some fresh blood to start our march forward, i been a fan since 1966 and i seen alot of good and bad qb’s but russell has to be one of our worst picks, i say trade him for a 2nd round pick, because we’ll never get a 1st round for him. well i know my babble won’t get anywhere but i’m just pissed about another lossing season !!! peace out, silver and black forever ,, go raiders..
